Things to Do to Avoid the Number Seven in Craps

This article features some of the widely-believed superstition in the game of craps. It enumerates and describes the customs and beliefs followed by most craps players.

It may seem odd that seven is treated as a very unlucky number. History has it that famous people and personalities attribute their luck to this particular number. So can seven be unlucky? In the game of craps, seven is truly a crap!

In the game of craps, the number seven is the most hated and most avoided number. Several superstitions regarding the number seven have been developed through the years of craps gaming. Here are several of these beliefs that a craps player must remember in order to avoid this number.

First of all, it is customary for craps player to avoid dangling their hands at the edge of the craps table. It is widely believed that when one shoots the dice and one or both the dice hit a craps player’s hand, a value of seven will result in the dice roll. In order to avoid this, one must keep their hands anywhere but not the edge of the table.

Second thing to remember is never place a bet when the cocktail waitress approaches the craps table. Although the cocktail waitress just wanted to offer you a drink, many believed that this is unlucky and most likely, the dice roll will result to seven. Just enjoy the drink and wait for the next round before placing a bet on the craps table.

Also, never mention the word seven during the craps game. Some craps players believed that the dice are very much sensitive and will hear the word when uttered. So when seven is mentioned, the result of the dice roll is expected to value a total of seven.

Another event that will result into a value of seven is when the dice was thrown off the craps table and the shooter failed to mention “same dice”. When the dice is thrown off the table, the dice will automatically be replaced unless the shooter request that the same dice will be used. If the dice was replaced, the expected value of the dice roll will be seven.

During the game, it is also believed that if the stickperson or stickman, for old craps players, pushes the dice in front of the player and the total value of the dice is seven, it is bad luck. It will be wise not to place any bet when this happens.

It is also worthy to note that if the dice hits either a glass of a money, it is more likely that the result of the throw will be seven.

And finally, never place a wager when the dealers are too loud. Many craps players believe that this will disrupt the rhythm of the dice and will result into a seven when the dice is thrown.

Sound pretty foolish and senseless right? But it won’t hurt if one observes these beliefs After all, other craps players are doing it.
